"other" jobs!

I was thinking of all the other possible jobs I would like if I wanted a completly different life:

1) Professional Tango Dancer- I would be in shape like whoa, get to dance a super hot dance with a super hot man who can move, and impress people with my mad footwork skills. Not to mention the sweet costumes and flowers I could wear in my hair and all the trips I could take to Spain for competitions.
2)Dolphin Trainer- Minus the raw fish I would be feeding little flipper, this job has super fun potential! Not your regular day at the office! Ocean swimming and sunny days with our smartest mammal friend. Le's hope the relationship doesn't end up like the MN Zoo...
3) Opera Singer- need I say more?
4) Jewlery Designer- BLING all around!
5) President of Gustavus- Dang, I am not a WASP, but it would be nice to ruffle the feathers of all those trustees AND live in the sweet house!
6) Gourmet Pastry Chef for the Stars- Imagine all the crazy things they would want that I could overcharge them for. Britney wants a donut in the shape of Sean Preston, BAM! $38 dollars later, I would strike it rich! Somehow I feel like celebrity wedding cakes must cost at least $50K each. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me...
7) Cruise Ship Tester- Someone's gotta test the ships out for the greater good of comsumers, and it might as well be me! I would probably need some sort of life vest operation certification, but I could study for that assessment, no problemo!
8) Rockette- NYC, the glitz, the glamour, the endless kicking, and the never ending practice where I would never see my friends, but I would probably make pretty good money and have an ice breaker the rest of my life!
9) Handbag designer- Anyone would rightfully want this job!
10) Random Hippie- I've seen them all around the world from India to Italy. I'm not sure how their lives really work, but I am willing to give it a go!

So much for that! This is what happens when you let your mind wander! Tomorrow is Friday and I couldn't be more pumped for JEANS DAY!!!! Yeah!!!

PS I don't watch American Idol and I don't want to! I don't hate it, I just don't watch it, get over it PEOPLE!

$$$$ I wish I was "The Donald's" Baby! $$$$

No, I am actually just kidding, because, although Melania's stellar looks may help me dig out of the Trump-sters genetically mutated mess, I would probably still have bad hair....although...I could get plastic surgery! Riiiight.

It would truly be nice to have some of his bling, especially in TA expensive weeks like this one. It is completly my fault that I bought a car, insurance for a year, and hit the Fields Day employee appreciation sale every day. Oh well.

My new car is super stellar- it's a 2003 Honda Accord EX with all the best bells and whistles including, but not limited to: 6 disc DC changer, anti theft blinkie light (which for some reason I truly enjoy--WTF??), power moon roof, all the airbags humanly possible, and seriously, 8 cup holders. I didn't necessarily want all these extra commodities, but it just so happened the car was the right price at the right time. I bought it from some nice people and paid about $5000 less than what I would have paid at the same car at the dealer. Holla! Most importantly, however, it is a low-emissions vehicle (one of the least polluting on the earth!), and gets stellar gas mileage. It is white with a tan interior.

I am taking votes for names. So far, all I have are halo (because the car is white like an angel!) and konichi-wa. I need some more options people! Usually I have a knack for this, apparently not today!

Send me your suggestions! I need options!!!!!!

there's just one thing i've left to figure out

I have made a list of all the things I am going o buy during the employee appreciation sale at Marshall Fields during Field Days. Again, as previously blogged, most of these items are for a house that I don't have, but oh well. I will be getting wine glasses, some white bowls, maybe a new wallet, and a few other random things that may or may not include a small piece of fine jewlery! Yes!!!

On a separate note, I just recieved word that an interesting person from my past has now arrived back in the Twin Cities from a long stint in India. Wow, I bet you can't guess who that is! It is kind of interesting how I feel about it. I mean, obviously I'm 98% over our relationship, but somehow there is surely this strange 2% of me that always wonders what he is doing, who he is with, and what will happen to him. I don't wish for what could have been, but still have this strange stomach-flippey type of a feeling when I am updated on what he is doing, or, better yet, seeing yet another picture of him and his girlfriend. I HATE THIS 2%!!!!!! But somehow, I think it is here to stay.

Some people got laid off at Marshall Fields today, it was quite strange, and very sad. There is one older lady who has worked at MF for 11 years. She survived breast cancer a few years back and has the simplest and sweetest disposition. It is so sad to think about how hard it will be for her to get another job with good insurance which she needs most. Our whole floor was really sad about all of these events as we are losing two members of our team. Luckily, after they heard the news they were given the day off (not that this truly makes the situation ANY better). Corporate America rears its ugly head. I don't forsee any problems with my job, so that is good, but I am not working there much longer, so it is less worrisome for me.

Crazy week. Just crazy.

Jacknife Adventures

Well, lads and lasses, the snow has finally begun to taper off and life may sort of return to normal after this beastly snow storm. I, unlike many others, am so sick of snow and winter, I could probably vomit, but to each his own. HOWEVER, when I stepped onto the trusty route 270 double length bus today and it jack-knifed into the ditch, I decided it was time to GO HOME!! I spent two hours attempting to go to work, with no avail, so I figured that was good enough!

It was very strange being home on a Monday, but I loved it. I basically just read books and watched Sex in the City and Little House on the Prarie all day long. Yesss!! It is slightly scary to think about the mounds of work needed to be done tomorrow, but with this three day weekend, I am all the more rested. I mean, I have only had one day off since I started working in October, and I have never called in sick, so I was pretty much due for a day off (I'll just keep telling myself that!).

It is days like today that I wish I was hiking the Swedish fjords in early June, or sitting at a beautiful secluded beach with my iPod, or better yet, taking a nap outside in a mosquito free world with the nice warm sun shining on my face and my bare feet in the grass. Someday, this will come again, but until then, I will just have to THINK SPRING!!

Headlock

As per my new Imogen Heap CD, I can basically say I am pretty obsessed. Correction: I love it so much that I was anti-social at work the entire week and sat at my computer with my headphones on listening to the same CD the entire week! It was a little ridiculous, but somehow, when I get a new, great CD, I usually listen to it non-stop for a good two weeks until I have it memorized. Before this CD it was the Frou Frou CD, "Details". So, all in all, I am an Imogean Heap fanatic! Luckily I got two new CDs yesterday, one being Amos Lee (love it!) an the second was a random Josh Groban-esque singer whose native languate is Italian (yes!) named Russell Watson. This CD is great too. What a good week for new music!

The good news of the day is that I have been accepted into my first graduate program. At least the first thing I hear was an offer of admission, yeah! I have three more to hear from, so we will have to see. I can now officially go to American University and get my MA in Economics- Development Finance. I didn't really grasp the scariness of moving across the country until I was accepted today and there was a minor bout of butterflies in my stomach with the realization of moving completly away from home. Luckily, as previously discussed, I am all set in terms of China and other random shelves, decorations, and housewares in general. Now it is the true wake up call: Washington DC! Yikes!

Tonight Liz and Jon and I went to see all the short documenteries nominated for an Oscar. There were a total of four, and the first three were about a photo journalist committing suicide after being in Sudan and witnessing suffering and agony, the second was about Rwanda and the aftermath of the genocide, and the third was about Hiroshima. WOW. Luckily the fourth one was about a radio show. It was a lot to take during the first three, but very eye opening. They are all so very Oscar worthy. The power of media is extremely visible in our everyday lives. The power of a pictures, movie, radio show, internet. Wow, interesting that media has truly been the driving force of changing our world, from the printing press invention, to radio, to movies and tv, and now the internet.

As for the title of this post, "Headlock" is the first song on the Imogren Heap CD. As I was at the gym this morning I listened to this single song the entire 32 minutes I was on the treadmill. It was kind of strange to run to a slower song, but, like I said, I am obsessed, so I made it work!
