There are quite a few possible topics I could write about in my updates, but I'll spare you the vast amount of details. I am enjoying my life without school so much. I've been getting out to happy hour, out for dinners and coffee, and even auditioned for a professional choir here in D.C. (no news yet on the outcome of the decision).

The last two weeks have been very interesting in terms of personal relationships. I got myself in a bit of a quandary which was just resolved tonight. Without getting way into it, I was dating two different people who were polar opposites and I was drawing on the positives of both of them. The hard part about the whole situation was that all of the "relationship positives" that one gave, the other didn't. One of those classic situations where you wish you could smash two people together and make your dream man. Most people I know here in D.C. have only met one of these guys, and it is hard to not make judgements on them both, but they are both wonderful in their own ways.

I would consider myself pretty much a dating amateur. Never have I been in a situation where I have dated (and had genuine feelings towards) two people, and it was crazy. I finally ended one tonight after lots of mixed feelings. I had to do what my head, not my heart, told me, and it sucked. I am trying to solve this problem by building a bond of friendship, but we will see if that happens. I guess this is a lesson we are all bound to learn in an adult life.

I feel like I have a bit of searching to do with my remaining relationship with Janai. He has been gone for the past three weeks on military training and came home for less than 24 hours, where I got to spend some time with him. This left me with the realization that there are so many unanswered questions about us: where are we going? How has our relationship changed? How do we genuinely feel about everything? I can only hope that these questions are answered soon.

Back to wandering.

51 HOURS UNTIL THE NEW SEASON OF PROJECT RUNWAY!

7.12.2008

I'm still enjoying my school-free life like WHOA. It seems like I am busy on the weekdays and free on the weekends, which is a nice feeling. Happy hours, dinners with friends, and errands are a nice way to end a work day, because it makes me feel like I am really productive during the week. It's awesome.

I just looked at my degree audit online, and I can't believe that I actually only have two classes until I am done with my MPA. It was a 42 credit program (each class is 3 credits) and I can't believe all of the course work I've finished in the matter of a year and a half. When people comment on how fast I've finished my degree, I kind of shrugged it off, but it now seems crazy. I will be sad to leave school, which is the truth, but I will work hard to find other things to fill my time. I can't wait to take voice lessons, join a choir, and volunteer at a great place.

To top off this fabulous break, I just got two new pairs of Reef flip-flops at $9.99 from Lucy. I could finally retire my old ones, which had covered many miles on the streets of mostly NW D.C.

I'm going out tonight with my ladies...there will be more updates later! =)

I just waited 15 minutes at the corner of Calvert and Connecticut Avenue NW to take a right hand turn. I'm trying to get over it.

As usual, the DC fireworks were cool, but trecherous. I'm serious. The rated G fireworks on the Mall are for the tourists, but the rest of the fireworks are set by random people in tennis courts, off high school roofs, and in the street. I was on U and Clifton Streets NW across from Cardozo High, and it was completly OUT of control. I was pretty sure my beautiful car was going to blow up, but alas, I'm here and alive. Props to Chris for the sweet balcony and props to the DC Fire Department for having a fire truck on basically every street. HOLLER!

Last night I went on a date with my Trolley Boyfriend (TB). We have NOTHING in common, but I had a fun time, so we will see where this goes (he is also SUPER HOT). Janai and I have never claimed to be exclusive, which is why it's okay that I go out with TB, but I still do feel a bit strange about it. I'm obviously a one man woman. That being said, he has been gone for three weeks on aa business trip, and is about to leave for a month of training. Not unlike Janai, TB has a crazy past also including the military (I triple dog dare you to come to DC and not date a military guy...it's IMPOSSIBLE!), which I don't love, but I think it helped him, so there is no reason to hate. Just to be clear, I don't hate the military, but it is hard to be in a relationship with somone who is in the military. It's obviously a huge sacrifice for both the enlisted and the spouse. Anyways, I had a nice time wit Trolley Boyfriend and, if nothing else, will learn more about who I like/don't like to date.

I AM DONE WITH SCHOOL FOR 57 MORE DAYS. I love the freedom, but I know I will be happy to get back to school when all is said and done.
